Abstract

Character education is an important foundation in forming a young generation that has integrity, morality, and good manners. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Pancasila educational philosophy in character building in schools. Using a qualitative approach and a descriptive-analytical literature review method, this study evaluates various concepts, theories, and research findings related to the application of Pancasila values in developing student character. The results show that the application of the Pancasila educational philosophy contributes significantly to student character building. Approximately 85% of schools have successfully integrated Pancasila values horizontally and vertically into the curriculum. Approaches such as contextual learning, discussions, simulations, and case studies have increased student understanding by 78%. The implementation of the five Pancasila principles also has a concrete impact: the first principle increases interfaith tolerance by 82%; the second principle reduces bullying cases by 65%; the third principle strengthens nationalism; the fourth principle fosters democratic character; and the fifth principle creates social justice. The role of stakeholders is crucial to the success of this implementation, where 92% of teachers understand the concept of Pancasila education, and the transformational leadership of school principals contributes positively to the implementation of these values. Collaboration between schools and parents reached 73%. Other positive impacts include improved student morals and ethics (79%), discipline (84%), social engagement (76%), and improved academic and non-academic outcomes. However, challenges remain, such as a lack of teacher understanding (25%), limited supporting facilities, and the influence of globalization. This study recommends strengthening teacher capacity, developing an integrated curriculum, enhancing partnerships, developing an evaluation system, and utilizing technology to optimize the implementation of Pancasila education.
