In everyday life, the use of technology is inextricably linked to the environment. In today's era of globalization, technology has developed rapidly. This study aims to examine the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Arabic language learning among students at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and secondary data collection methods through questionnaires, the study explores how students utilize AI technology in the Arabic language learning process. The results show that the majority of students use various AI platforms such as Google, Gemini AI, ChatGPT, and others to assist their learning process. A total of 30 students stated that AI assisted them in learning activities, especially in searching for vocabulary, translation, and Arabic references. The role of AI in Arabic language learning includes: acting as a virtual mentor, voice assistant, personalizing learning, providing an engaging learning experience, and supplementing learning materials. However, the study also identified negative impacts of AI use, such as the potential to reduce learning motivation, create technology dependency, and the risk of plagiarism. Two students expressed concern that AI could make them lazy in thinking and hinder the development of intellectual abilities. The study's conclusion emphasizes the importance of using AI wisely in education, while maintaining the primary role of educators as facilitators and mentors. This research provides in-depth insights into the potential and challenges of integrating AI into Arabic language learning in higher education.
