Abstract

Multicultural education from the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy becomes an important solution to the phenomenon of social segregation in the Indonesian educational environment. This article discusses the urgency of implementing multicultural education to create social justice and equality, emphasizing the importance of integrating Islamic values such as tolerance, justice, and compassion. The theological foundation of multicultural education in Islam is reflected in the principles of "li ta'arafu" and "rahmatan lil 'alamin," which encourage appreciation for diversity as a divine law. However, the reality in Indonesia still shows the existence of segregation based on religion and ethnicity, both in school structures and social interactions. Therefore, the systemic and sustainable implementation of multicultural education is essential to address discrimination, strengthen moderate Islamic identity, and build an inclusive and harmonious society amidst diversity. This article recommends the transformation of educational policies and practices into a more just and inclusive system.
