Abstract

Islamic education plays an important role in shaping the character and personality of individuals. In the increasingly complex global context, the concept of Wasathiyah becomes highly relevant to be applied in higher education institutions. Wasathiyah concept in Islamic education refers to the principle of moderation and balance in various aspects of life, including the learning process. This study show that In the context of higher education, Wasathiyah emphasizes the importance of integrating knowledge, moral values, and Islamic ethics, as well as the development of students' character. This study was conducted using literature and qualitative methods. The data sources are articles and e-books that can be accessed through the Google Scholar and Google Book platforms. Descriptive analysis techniques were used to analyze the data. The research results show that education based on Wasathiyah not only aims to produce graduates who are competent in the academic field but also individuals who can contribute positively to society by upholding Islamic principles. Thus, higher education institutions have a strategic role in creating an environment that supports the development of balanced individuals, responsive to the challenges of the times, and capable of maintaining integrity and harmony in a multicultural society. Research results show that the application of moderation principles can create a more inclusive and harmonious learning environment. However, challenges such as resistance to change and a lack of understanding of moderation still need to be addressed.
