The text represents a form of cultural resistance against Dutch colonial dominance, which had significantiy weakened the political authority of the Surakarta Palace. This research aims to explore and analyze the character education values embodied in Serat Wulang Reh, a literaty work by Sri Susuhunan Pakubuwana IV. This study applies a descriptive qualitative method with content analysis to identify core character values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, perseverance, simplicity, and spiritual awareness. The findings indicate that Serat Wulang Reh serves not only as a literary masterpiece but also as an educational medium promoting ethical behavior and cultural identity. Despite the political decline of the royal institution, Pakubuwana IV utilized culture and literature to uphold the dignity of the Javanese court. Thus, Serat Wulang Reh reains highly relevant as a reference for character education rooted in local wisdom. Its teachings aim to guide younger generations and society at large toward becoming morally upright and slelf-aware individuals. The presence of these character values underscores the importance of literature as a tool for moral development and nation-building.
