Abstract

The Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach is increasingly recognized as an effective method in improving student learning outcomes at various levels of education. However, the implementation of PBL at the Senior High School (SMA) level still faces various challenges that need to be identified in depth. This study aims to evaluate the effect of PBL on the learning outcomes of high school students, especially in developing critical thinking skills, creativity, and collaborative abilities. The research method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests given to two groups of students, namely the experimental group using the PBL approach and the control group using conventional learning methods. The results of the study showed that students who took part in learning with the PBL approach had a significant increase in learning outcomes compared to students who took conventional methods. In addition, PBL has also been shown to be more effective in developing non-academic skills such as teamwork and problem solving. The conclusion of this study is that PBL has a significant positive effect on the learning outcomes of high school students, not only in cognitive aspects but also in the development of important soft skills. Therefore, it is recommended that this approach be more widely implemented in schools as part of an innovative and effective learning strategy.
